Julian is a mountain town nestled amidst pine and oak forests. It is located 50 miles northeast of San Diego along highway 78. The town's first big industry was gold mining starting in the 1870s, but today tourism is its mainstay. Numerous buildings from the goldrush era have been preserved in fine condition. Many sport false front façades and resemble a western movie set. To learn more about the Julian area attractions, visit the Julian Chamber of Commerce.
